About Helen
Hey everyone, let's meet! My name is Helen and I am the founder and designer behind the Helen Kukovski brand.
Designing and sewing started as a hobby for me a long time ago. My major was Publishing, so frankly speaking I never thought I'd be working in Fashion. Because making money on doing something I am passionate about seemed something unreal.
It was Christmas 2009 and I was making warm slippers for me and my friends from my old winter sweaters. I made like 30 of them, and it was way more than I needed, so I decided to sell the rest of them. Of course I didn't expect they would be so popular. I had to use all sweaters my familly had, then I started buying them from my friends. No joking, we didn't have any spare sweater left that winter. Thanks to that I was able to buy new fabric and slippers became even more popular. I was making them in my free time, it was totally ok for me.
But life can be unpredictable and surprises it carries can be both good and bad. Unfortunately, my business started to grow after a big family loss. Our family needed money and I had no choice: during the day I was working full time as a web designer and at night I was fulfilling orders, the number of which exceeded my monthly limit. I was taking too many orders, much more than I could handle. And that is when my grandmother stepped up, and than my whole family decided to join this journey. I can never thank them enough for everything they do for me and our business, I don't think I'd be where I am right now without them. In one year I had to quit my job, because I couldn't combine two jobs any longer.

How I got from slippers to creating lingerie? Well, I always had to struggle to find the right bra. And the struggle became real when I gave birth to my daughter. I couldn't find any bra that would fit me and still be beautiful, so I decided to make one myself. You see, the sizing is standart but woman bodies are all different. I strongly believe that women shouldn't have the desire to take off their bras the first thing when they get home ( of course if it's not a date night :). You should feel comfortable in your bra like in your own skin. And that is what we are trying to achieve.
